On behalf of The Catholic University of America, I am writing to invite you to attend a community outreach workshop on the University’s process to undertake a comprehensive revision of its Campus Master Plan.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, July 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center Great Room. All members of the Brookland community are invited to participate.

The workshop will begin with welcoming remarks by University President John Garvey. Thereafter, workshop attendees will be given a 20-30 minute tour of campus. Following the tour, workshop participants will reconvene in the Great Room where they will hear a presentation on the implementation of the University’s 2002 Campus Master Plan and be introduced to the objectives and key issues related to the new Campus Master Plan, which will be reviewed and approved by the District of Columbia Office of Planning in 2012. Time will be allotted following the presentation for a discussion.

In addition to President Garvey and other University officials, representatives from Ayers Saint Gross, the architectural consultant that the University has engaged for the Campus Master Plan process, will participate in the workshop.

The purpose of the master plan is to articulate how the campus’s physical infrastructure may be modified to support the future vision of the University. It has two components: academic and physical plant. The academic component connects programming plans with their associated effect on facilities.

A second community workshop on the 2012 Campus Master Plan will be held in late August, on a date yet to be determined. It will build on the presentation and discussion at the July 20 workshop.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided at the July 20 workshop.

In order for the organizers of the workshop to plan appropriately, all members of the Brookland community wishing to attend are asked to R.s.v.p. no later than Tuesday, July 19. Please send an e-mail to https://mail.dc.gov/owa/redir.aspx?C=35b4e27703e449ad88340b241f0728b1&URL=mailto%3acua-public-affairs%40cua.edu or call 202-319-5600.

Sincerely,

Victor Nakas
Associate Vice President for Public Affairs
