AARP’s Legal Counsel for the Elderly has a Self Help Office (SHO)

AARP’s Legal Counsel for the Elderly has a Self Help Office (SHO) that provides free legal services to senior (60+) residents of the District of Columbia, at five partnering sites. In 2010, the SHO Program assisted 244 seniors by executing 1352 services, including providing: information on requesting services from the DC government, legal information, self-help guides, public benefits checkups, applications for public benefits, assistance with housing code enforcement, help drafting consumer complaint letters, referrals to social service agencies, assistance filing small claims cases, information on requests for vital records, and legal advice by telephone.  With your help, in 2011, I would like to reach even more.

As Legal Associate for the SHO Program, I am vested in the programs continued success and the mission of Legal Counsel for the Elderly.   Please disseminate the attached flyer to your senior (60+) constituency.  Feel free to contact me, at 202- 434 -2196, if you like me to address your consistency directly about the SHO Program
