NOTICE OF SPECIAL ANC ELECTION

Pursuant to D.C. Code §1-309.06 (2006 Repl.), the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5C hereby gives notice that ANC 5C will hold a Special Election during its regular scheduled monthly meeting on May 17, 2011 to fill the vacancy in ANC Single Member District (SMD 5C08). The individuals listed above have been certified by the DC Board of Elections and Ethics as the two (2) candidates having satisfied the requirement to be elected. Voters may only vote for one (1).

ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE: Only registered voters who reside in 5C08 area, including any of the
following streets will be permitted to participate in the Election. Voter registration will be verified using BOEE voter identification cards and/or the voter registration list provided by the BOEE:
200-300 Bryant Street NE (Even)
200-300 Channing Street (Odd/Even)
200 Cromwell Terrace NE (Odd/Even)
201-401 Douglas Street NE (Odd)
401-635 Edgewood Street NE (Odd)

VOTING: Mr. Gottlieb Simon, Director, DC Office of Advisory Neighborhood Commissions will serve as Election Manager. Once the meeting has been called to order, eligible voters will be able to cast ballots between 6:30pm and 7:45 p.m. The ballot box will be placed in the meeting room where it can be observed by all present at the meeting. Each candidate will be permitted one observer to observe the voting process but will not be able to interfere with the voting or communicate directly with any voter. Any eligible voter in line waiting to receive a ballot at 7:45 p.m. will be allowed to complete the registration process and vote.

COUNTING: Once voting will ends the ballot box will be opened and the votes counted by at least two impartial vote counters. The results will be submitted to and read aloud by the Chairperson of the ANC. The ANC5C meets on 3 Tuesday of the month. Election Manager will report any unresolved issues not addressed by these rules. The Commission will take
action to resolve these issues before ending the meeting. In the event of a tie, in accordance with the DC Code, the candidates or their proxies will cast lots (e.g. draw slips of paper from a box) to determine the winner the event of any incident or occurrence that threatens the conduct or fairness of the election or the vote count the Election Manager will be authorized to suspend the balloting or counting.

FILLING OF VACANCY: The Commission will vote on a Resolution identifying the winner and asking the BOEE to declare the vacancy filled.
